May Stitch Fix {southern maryland lifestyle photographer}

SQUEAL. Literal squeal. I need to just delve in. If you haven’t followed along for a while, and have no clue what Stitch Fix is, visit here for the explanation!

YAY:

I love the stack. So many surprises await!

To start, the Kut from the Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean in White.
Sigh. I tried so hard to make these work, but I really just don’t have the figure for boyfriends. I’m short and bottom-heavy (read, my derriere stretches from here to the next time zone). I’m just not a fan of myself in them. To keep the 25% discount, I was luckily able to sell these quickly on a buy/sell/trade forum!

Le Lis Truxton Embellished Crew Neck Blouse
When in doubt for a blouse, toss on the Rune leggings from a prior fix. I love these sapphire blue heels from Jessica Simpson -that I accidentally ordered. Long story. The top of this blouse is all bling. The collar is embellished, the floral is divine, and the cut is great for tight bottoms. Total love.

Papermoon Piko Knit Tank was one my bomb ass stylist Holly sent for a weekend of running the boys. And it’s perfection. Just the right touch of feminine so I don’t feel like one of the boys. Feels like a dream. Love that it’s somehow loose and clingy. I paired it with last summer’s Dear John dark wash denim and my go-to Imagine TOMS. Perfect grocery store day.

I saved the best for last, because I did literally squeal when I saw this band of color. The Papermoon Bastille Tulip Sleeve Blouse pairs so perfectly with the Pixley Stacey Scallop Hem Cut-out Detail Skirt. I mean, I just can’t even. For a few days I’ve been so very sad because, well you can’t see in these pictures but this skirt will not zip up my backside. I can squeeze and finagle and then not breath, and was considering doing that, but luckily a size exchange is en route to me. I’ll be updating my profile because it seems that the Pixley skirts run small for me. Paired with the same accidentally-ordered sapphire pumps and I’m golden for a day at the office. I just hope the weather breaks and the sun hangs out for a while. I hate wearing skirts in the rain; no real idea why. The top is a staple that my wardrobe has really been lacking; tremendously lacking. But the cute sleeves are such a great detail to make it better than just a plain ol’ ivory top. To die for.

So here we are again. Holly was once again brilliant. She’s my bestie at Stitch Fix. I feel like we’ve been pals for so long. Knocked it out of the park.

Do you see what I see peeking out of the box!?!?! That’s right, I GOT SHOES!

darcee
How adorable is this top? This is the Collective Concepts Darcee Blouse. I am not typically a fan of the peplum because they are either overly fitted up top or just too wide at the waist, and I don’t need to draw any more attention to my derriere. This one is what I like to call flouncy. It’s flowy and whispy. And the sleeves are amazing – they’re like half sleeves, in between short and three quarter. The pattern on this is so cute, too! Nothing bad about it…except it’s dry clean only 🙁 I hate going to the dry cleaner.

rahn front
I had this Fun2Fun Rahn Henley Blouse on my Pinterest inspiration board after seeing it on a fellow blogger. I’m so glad Holly found it for me! Wait for it….

BOOM:
rahn back
LOOK AT THE SPLIT BACK! So much love for this little blouse! It’s sheer, so will be great for the (hopefully coming soon) warm spring and can easily be put under a blazer to be a little more work appropriate.

izzi kensie
I also had pinned a lovely blouse from Stitch Fix‘s blog and unfortunately my stylist, Holly, couldn’t find it for me. However, she sent this little ditty, the Collective Concepts Izzi Tie Waist Blouse. My husband, sweet man that he is, told me I look like an old school marm. Very sweet of him. My eldest told me he didn’t like it, but “I don’t like half of what you wear anyway”. I didn’t bother even asking the other two. I think this is great. It’ll be nice with a pencil skirt, but think it looks good under a blazer. Oh, and then there’s this little awesomeness:
izzi back
Love the little detail on the back.

I’ve saved the best for last!
melynda bale
This is a two-for-one. I’m bloating out in the Adrianna Papell Melynda Ponte Dress that’s lovely and wonderful and a great dress. Many things are great about this (I just can’t think of them right now because I’m distracted by my belly 🙁 ). It’s dry clean only so that’s kinda meh. But I can take it when I take the peplum. But look lower to the FFC New York Bale D’Orsay Polka Dot Flats. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I have seen these floating around the Stitch Fix blog circuit and DYING to get my hands (feet?) on them. I wore them immediately. They were slightly snug at first but almost too quickly became too big. The heel kinda folded back and now they’re huge. And I’m bummed. I freakin’ love these shoes, so I’ll probably pretend like they fit until they fall apart, and just kinda flip-flop around in them.

So that’s that! April was a fantastic, fantastic month, another 5/5 from Holly who is the BEES KNEES and if she ever leaves me I may just track her down and …ask her what to wear!

Go join Stitch Fix. Seriously. Just go do it. You’ll be so glad you did.

the S family {southern Maryland photographer}

These photos. So much love. There are other really, really great ones from their session (my eldest helped snag more than a handful under my watchful eye, even!), but this series is my favorite. They are candidly all taking turns looking at each other with love. We weren’t posing or assisting at all. And this, this screams to me and reminds me why we go freeze our butts by the water on a Sunday evening (after rescheduling because the morning was plagued by rain!). So even if the next day was 70F outside…the cold makes for some magic.

March Stitch Fix {southern maryland photographer}

Let me just sum it all up by saying that Holly did it. Again.
stack

So what’s Stitch Fix exactly? You go to Stitch Fix and answer some questions about yourself – sizes, preferences, etc. Schedule your date. Wait. It will be patiently at first, and then you’ll be very anxious. You try on everything in the comfort of your own home, which is awesome, after your PERSONAL STYLIST picks and sends them to you. The $20 fee charged when your box ships applies to anything you keep. And if you’re anything like me, that’s 5/5.

Without further ado, the Holly show : )
31 Bits Aria Beaded Bib Necklace
I LOVE THIS. The story behind 31 Bits is enough to make me want to buy them, but the fact that they’re adorable makes me want to wear them, too!
31bits

Rune Porter Legging
I needed a decent pair of just plain black leggings. Do you know how hard it is to find decent plain black leggings? Not the ones where you bend over and your derriere is flashing everyone (me). Thick ones that cover everything. And these fit the bill just perfectly.

Papermoon Qamra Draw String Tunic
The cobalt on this is amazing. The little detailing across the top between chest and shoulders. And the length is actually where it needs to be for me, which tends to be an issues since I’m short. Tunics are made for you taller ladies, super stoked to have this one!

Loveappella Asher Woven Back Knit Top
Holly knows how much I love a little pop of surprise, and this one is so damn adorable. The front is all business, right, just a plain looking navy knit top. But the back is a billow of ladylike loveliness. Definitely needed to keep this, too!
top
My middle wanted to take my pictures this time, which is why there are so few of me wearing the clothing. : )

Pixley eve Floral Skirt
OH. MY. GOD.I’ve seen this beauty circulating the blog circuit for a while. It is the loveliest of lovely skirts that I had to have and my Holly found it for me! To my surprise the background color is actually peach, not white. It’s so versatile. I can see this working out nicely for Easter if the weather is kind enough to oblige. T shirt and Toms. Blouse and heels. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

February Stitch Fix {southern maryland photographer}

It’s that time of month again. No, not that one, the one that is AWESOME!

To get an idea of what this Stitch Fix stuff is, read through the other posts. Really, this one is too good to delay!

stack

Oh, “the stack”. She looks so lovely in her tissue paper. I just want to dive right in.

To start:
In most of the pictures you’ll see me wearing the Zad Evina Spade Fringe Pendant Necklace. I loved it straight out of the box. it’s antique gold and pretty perfectly matches the Zad cuff from a few fixes ago.

Here I’ve paired the Zad necklace with the Crescent Marele Pleat Detail Blouse. I love the fuschia color — I owned nothing fuschia so that was great to see. It’s almost too transparent for my liking, so I went ahead and left the cami I was already wearing on as well as my Kensie skinnies. Love.
pink

I thought it would also look totally cute with the 41Hawthorn Walt Skirt and I’m pretty glad I listened to myself.
skirt
So here’s the thing about this skirt. It’s completely adorable and I love it. I love it so much that I have it’s near identical twin already in my closet (two months in a row Holly sent me dupes she didn’t know I own, further proof that she is my styling soul mate!).
skirt two of em
(and my eldest is annoying and interrupting and providing no useful feedback or assistance with his finger!)

Totally in love with the top and the necklace. On the fence with the skirt. Keep reading to find out why! 🙂

The 41Hawthorn Roswon Colorblock Striped Sweater is something I’ve seen on other Stitch Fix blogs around the interwebs. And I really wanted it! I am just not sure on this particular color scheme. I’ve seen a handful and this one is my least favorite, so I am on the fence about this one.
sweater poetic
Also, this sweater makes me a very deep thinker.
sweater

So my favorite piece in the entire box is the Alice Blue Lucio Henley Blouse, dubbed gray by the style card, but it’s clearly a multi-colored beauty. The cut and color are so adorable. It’s 100% opaque, so no option to throw a cami underneath; definite requirement. But the catch is that this weight-training has my arms so super buff that I can’t wear it comfortably. 🙁 I have emailed customer service and so pending a size exchange I will have to sadly send this one back to headquarters. And with it a piece of my fashion heart (which, thanks to Stitch Fix, I didn’t know I had a year + ago!).

<3 I love this top. I hope they have a medium to swap for me! And so the skirt: If I fall in love with the sweater in the next three (or more, pending CS return email) days, then the skirt will cost $7.50 because of the 25% off to keep all five. I can justify twins for $7.50. What do you think? Am I picking the right pieces? How would you style them? (I just realized I never looked at the style cards, holy moly!)

January stitch fix {southern maryland lifestyle photographer}

In case you’ve been under a rock for the last few months, I am so in love with Stitch Fix. You can read the full description if necessary, but here’s the short:
Go to Stitch Fix
Answer some personality/style and size questions.
Schedule your shipment.
You get charged $20 when your PERSONAL STYLIST selects five items. It ships. It arrives. You try on and keep what you want ($20 goes to that!) and return what you don’t.
THAT SIMPLE.

So, without further ado:
stack
This goodness arrived today. I was so peeved I couldn’t leave work and come home for a Stitch Fix lunch. But hubby had it inside for me when I got home with my caravan of children. SO PROMISING!

gilli collective first
So here we have the Gilli Abriana Textured Pencil Skirt and the Collective Concepts Farma V-Neck Blouse. And I LOVE both of them. The issue with the skirt is that it’s twin, okay maybe more like a sibling or cousin?, is hanging in my closet. I love that one, too. The shirt is AMAZINGLY colorful. But guess what I’m not? That’s right. Petite.
gilli collective It’s like a crop top. Unfortunately, per the rolls you can see here (children plus my affinity for candy & baked goods) the shirt won’t work for me. So unfortunately both of these have to be returned.

gilli papermoon
Another super gorgeous combination is the Gilli Jasmine Printed Pencil Skirt and the Papermoon Palo Sheer Inset Blouse. This skirt is TO.DIE.FOR. and is unlike anything in my closet. Easy keeper. Even Thurston exclaimed “Mom, you look beautiful!”. But again, with the shirt, I’m not a petite. So it’s a crop and somehow tight on my chest (which is really all courtesy of Victorias Secret). So I’ll have to send the top back. 🙁

jacket
Lastly is the Market & Spruce Alan French Terry Asymmetrical Zip Cardigan. It’s soft and lovely and I thoroughly enjoy the gray color. Gustav was happy to join in on the photo, but unfortunately I don’t like the way this fits me. At all. So sadly I have to send it back.

So this month is the first 1/5 I’ve had in a year! Still quite pleased with the one piece I will be keeping — and I have ideas on what to pair with it based on the green & blue tops that I WISH FIT ME.

Request Holly, folks. She’s rad.
